"When You're Drifting" was actually the song that prompted me to start this blog. Mojave 3 is a band I highly admire because of their simple orchestration. That's it, really. You can hear it in the song. There are no complex melodies or chord progressions; just beautiful, fluid tones. Compared to the other alt-country-folk songs on this album, "When You're Drifting" stands out, in my opinion, because it's just really moody. It's a song you can turn on, ignore it, and absorb it subliminally; those are my favorite kinds of songs. Compared to other contemporary alt-rock bands, Mojave 3 uses horns frequently on their records. It's a nice motif that often goes unnoticed.
